People will only grant you business if they know you, like you and trust you. On top of that you need to have the best products and services. Enchantment represents the “businessification” of three important traits: likeability, trustworthiness and great products or services. You need all three to be enchanting!
#4 Content rules
People search the web for solutions. What they need is “content” that helps to solve their problems or fulfill their needs. Work on distinctive and high quality content with video, audio, blog posts, ebooks and webinars. Whatever type of content you choose, make sure it’s shareable!
#5 Get people talking about you
You might not be a first mover in your market, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get people to talk about you. You don’t own how people perceive you, but you can certainly give them something to talk about. Get out of your comfort zone and be different. Remember Seth Godin’s Purple Cow? It still works!
#6 Start with why
Key question for any business owner: “Why should anyone do business with you?” Let that be your main motivator for everything you do. What’s the value you offer to the market place? I you don’t know what it is, you can’t expect others to see it. So, start with why!
#7 Don’t be a brand – be you!
If you are a one person business, you are not a brand. People want to do business with people. Be human and show your uniqueness in everything you do. Be your authentic self!
#8 Remain likeable
Keep people talking about your business via +’s, tweets, pins, likes, comments, shares, etc… Build your success on social proof!
#9 Hire people who work for empathy
In today’s connection economy you need eyes and ears everywhere. You need to check what people are saying about you: be ready when they have any questions about your products or services or if they need a prompt response when they are not satisfied with whatever you offer. If you consider hiring a community manager or customer service employee, look for people who want to work for empathy.
#10 Let the word-of-mouth do the talking
Relationship marketing is the magic fuel that will boost your business engines. You need ambassadors. People who love what you do so much that they have to tell their friends before they go to sleep. So, connect with people and turn them into raving fans.
#11 Think strategically – start executing now
Relationship marketing is a strategy that comes with its own rules of the game. It’s main focus is on building quality connections with people that love what you do as well as social influencers who can help you get more visibility. Think about the long-term and start by executing now.
